Shows like ‘Pop Idol’ and ‘American Idol’ don’t create idols - they create a copy of a copy of a copy, void of talent and originality, mediocre escapism. Rather than an idol made of gold, the viewing public are left with something that looks and tastes like tin. I’m sure at least one of the sorry souls who win ‘talent’ shows like this, lining the pockets of television producers with their own blood, will end his or her life with their own hands when the promise of immense wealth and eternal fame prove a facade. The people behind the scenes should feel ashamed of themselves, not just for ruining music and stunting the next genuine legend, but for destroying lives. These people have blood on both their hands and their money.”
